*All entries (news articles, U.S. patents and international patent applications) are indexed for Organization, Agent and Virus. Terms for viruses are generally standardized and you can use common acronyms (e.g., HIV, HBV, HCV). Indexing is generally consistent (highly controlled). However, terms used may vary from year to year, e.g., "Epivir," "lamivudine" or "3TC" may be used in different years.
Keywords are used infrequently for news articles to index a few concepts not handled by the other indexes, such as actions (approval, patent dispute, acquisition/merger, etc.). Patent Check Tags (see the Patent Query Form) characterizing agents/technologies are also searchable in the Keyword field.
